Team Stroke Allowance:

  • How it is worked out

To determine the team Stroke Allowance your COURSE Handicaps are used.
The percentages below are England Golf mandatory allowances:

    For 4 players from lowest handicap to the highest = 25% – 20% – 15% – 10%

    Example:

    Player 1 = Handicap 10 X 25% = 2.5             Player 2 = Handicap 15 X 20% = 3

    Player 3 = Handicap 25 X 15% = 3.75           Player 4 = Handicap 28 X 10% = 2.8

Team Stroke Allowance = 12.0 (12.05 rounded to the nearest whole number)

This is essentially a 4-player team game and therefore a 3-player team will always be somewhat disadvantaged. However, we have adopted an alternative Stroke Allowance calculation method which endeavours to make the competition as equitable as possible.

Just for the purpose of calculating the team Stroke Allowance, a 3-player team will include a Ghost Player as their fourth player. The Ghost Player’s handicap is the average handicap of the 3 players, rounded to the nearest whole number.

There is a Texas Scramble Strokes Calculator available on the Par 3 Club website (sidebar), but you must enter the handicaps in from lowest to highest to get the correct calculation. N.B. 3 Player teams MUST use the 4-player calculator and include the Ghost Player handicap.

    • A minimum of tee shots per player to be used for a 4-player team
    • A minimum of 5 tee shots per player to be used for a 3-player team.
    • The remaining tee shots may be taken by any player.
