WHITCHURCH (CARDIFF) GOLF CLUB : LOCAL RULES – July 2013

1.    OUT OF BOUNDS (Rule 27-1)
Beyond any fence, wall, hedge or line of posts (whether painted white or not) or white stakes defining the boundaries of the course. The Clubhouse, practice putting green and car park areas.

2.    WATER HAZARDS (Rule 26)
Water hazards are defined by yellow stakes or lines.

3.    MOVABLE OBSTRUCTIONS (Rule 24-1)
Stones in bunkers are movable obstructions

4.    IMMOVABLE OBSTRUCTIONS (Rule 24-2)
a)    All fixed sprinkler heads and control valves, winter green holes and their covers are immovable obstructions and relief may be taken under Rule 24-2.  Drain holes near the back of the 8th, 10th, 13th & 17th greens may be treated as immovable obstructions when the ball lies on the putting green and the drain hole is on the line of putt. Relief may be taken under Rule 24-2. Gravel covered drainage channels may be treated as immovable obstructions. Rule 24-2 applies.
b)    Wooden chipped pathways and wooden edging of these pathways.  Rule 24-2 applies.
c)    Young trees identified by stakes which must be attached to the tree by a binding. If such a tree interferes with a player’s stance or intended swing, relief MUST be taken as prescribed in Rule 24-2b.

5.    GROUND UNDER REPAIR (Rule 25-1)  
Areas circled by white paint.

6.    INTEGRAL PARTS OF THE COURSE   
a)    All pathways and tracks except as in 4b above.  
b)    All flower beds and shrubberies.

7.    PRACTICE CHIPPING GREEN    
To be treated as a wrong putting green. Rule 25-3 applies.

8.    DISTANCE-MEASURING DEVICES
A played may obtain distance information by using a device that measures distance only. If, during a stipulated round, a player uses a distance-measuring device that is designed to gauge or measure other conditions that might affect his play (e.g. gradient, wind speed, temperature, etc.), the player is in breach of Rule 14-3, for which the penalty is disqualification, regardless of whether any such additional function is actually used. Distance-measuring devices must not be shared between competitors. Penalty for breach of this condition is disqualification.

9.    TEMPORARY LOCAL RULES
See noticeboards in Clubhouse.

NOTE:    
a)    150 yard markers are measured to the centre of the green.
b)    Balls hit out of bounds must be reported to the Administration Office.
